My yoga journey began in 1995 when I started taking classes once a week. I came to Rishi’s in 2004, where I began to understand all the gifts a regular yoga practice could offer. I continue to be amazed at the changes yoga has brought into my life.  I am learning to accept myself and my limitations, in addition to celebrating who I am!  My hope as a teacher is to help open the door for others to make the marvelous discoveries about who they are that yoga has helped me make.

Like many people, I began my yoga practice to care for my physical body. I soon realized that yoga offers so much more, allowing us access to the limitless potential within. Everyone must struggle to keep balance between stability and change. We each seek personal transformation but fear of the unfamiliar may keep us from finding fullness in our lives. Finding energy through motion, breath, and thought has opened up so many avenues in my life and community.

I am constantly awed by the brilliance of my students. The wisdom of traditions, along with the logic of science and life’s rich experiences are a constant gift. Once we begin to grow it is impossible to go backwards. I encourage all of us to always question why, and then why not? To blend and balance science and spirit into wholeness is my goal.

I believe that we have a duty to each other to share our gifts. Knowledge and passion are two of the most wonderful gifts I have been given. Teaching is my way of sharing what I have received from others. I have been fortunate to discover Yoga on my journey through life and on my search for my own spirit. I have been blessed to have wonderful teachers and to have found a sense of community at Rishi's Crossing. I only hope that I can pass on even a small part of these gifts to others.

The greatest gift yoga has given me is awareness. I began taking classes in 1978 and teaching in 1992. Since then I’ve been inspired to loosen up, explore my own yoga, be more playful, and find a new feeling of the inner body unfolding the outer. Yoga is a tool that can help transform the mind so one can live life with less drama of the personality and reach one’s highest potential. My vision as a yoga teacher is to guide and facilitate students’ growth and exploration of yoga in a safe, relaxing yet energetic space.

I encourage students to experience an inner sense of what feels correct for them. I hope my students will ignite and trust their own inner teacher so they are not dependent on me. I love teaching yoga. I receive more than I give – it ripples through my life. I think it’s yogic just to be kind. The work we do, the conversations with others, looking into people’s eyes, saying thank-you, being generous, polite, caring and loving without anything in return – truly make a difference. It’s all yoga.

Moving breath, floating bones, radiant energy. Do you experience this in your being? By using the root of all yoga, self observation, I seek to help students discover a dynamic structural alignment that enhances any type of movement and well being. Brain-based teaching techniques help students expand the relationship of the body and mind.
